Sleep Position Reveals Personality

Australian psychologists have identified a number of sleep positions that can determine the nature and personality of a person

According to the specialists, it is during sleep that a man is revealed at a subconscious level. Only four basic positions were previously known:
  • fetus position (curled-up manner, lying on the side), expressing the need for protection;
  • outstretched position (lying on stomach, with arms extended upward and straight legs), which is usually chosen by obliging, precise and focused people;
  • royal position (lying on the back, hands behind his head) expressing immense self confidence;
  • semi-fetus position (lying on the side with half-bent legs), which is usually chosen by sensible and even-tempered people.
Now, Australian psychologists have added a few more sleep positions to the list:
  • master’s position (lying on the stomach, gradually shifting in the middle of the bed, putting the pillow under himself) corresponds to a responsible and idealistic person, a good lover and a strong professional, steadily going up the career ladder);
  • support-seeker position (curled into a ball, like a cat) – it is usually chosen by a man unsure of himself, who needs a strong partner, a woman defender; this is a good man but a bad father; not a careerist;
  • balanced position (lying on the side, with their arms round a pillow or a loved woman) – reasonable and quiet man who very well knows what he wants from life, he is a good family man and a gentle lover; a good leader at work;
  • “Center of the Universe” position (lying on the side as close as possible to a partner face to face) – a non-amorous man, but who value home comfort and a woman-wife; not jealous; easily cheats; selfish lover, not a careerist;
  • uncompromising position (lying on the back, across the bed) – usually a one-woman man, wonderful family man, but dictatorial and tolerates no compromise; at work, this man is typically aimed primarily at financial well-being.

Most Polluting Countries in the World 2010

The world’s top 10 polluters, ranked by their absolute and per-capita greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, according to the International Energy Agency

No.1 China
The world’s biggest CO2 emitter. In November 2009 China announced that it will reduce its carbon intensity 40 to 45 percent by 2020.

No.2 United States
USA the world’s second biggest CO2 emitter. The US has 4% of the world’s population but they produces about 25% of all carbon dioxide emissions.

 No.3 Russia
Russia has improve its planning to reduce greenhouse gas emissions

No.4 India
India announced that it will reduce its emission intensity by 20-25 percent by 2020 from the 2005 level. India’s emissions intensity is already lower than other emerging economies and had decreased 17.6 percent between 1990 and 2005.

 No.5 Japan
Japan, the world’s fifth-biggest greenhouse gas emitter, announced in June this year that it will target a cut in emissions by 15 percent by 2020 from 2005 levels. Japanese businesses argue that their factories are already among the world’s most energy-efficient and that the country will struggle to cut greenhouse gas emissions

No.6 Germany

No.7 Canada
The province of Alberta is Canada’s top polluter as of May 2007. The province, with 10% of Canada’s population, contributes 40% of climate-warming gases of the country. Because half of all emissions in Canada are from industries, environmentalists target them instead of consumers.

In 2005, the country released 590 million tons of the greenhouse gases blamed for dangerously warming the globe.
If no action is taken to cut emissions, South Korea is expected to produce 813 million tons of greenhouse gases in 2020.

No 10. Mexico

4 Ways to Maintain Eye Health When Using Eyeliner

Red eyes, damaged eyelids, dryness and irritation. Are you familiar with these feelings in your eyes after partying and heavy use of makeup? If so then here are tips to maintain your eye health despite using eye makeup.

Do not use an eyeliner with sparkles

Even if it is written on the package that the product is safe for the eyes, if an eyeliner contains shiny particles, then you should avoid such a product especially if you wear contact lenses. If micro particles of sparkles fall into your eyes and especially under the lens, they will irritate the cornea throughout the day. Just imagine! Therefore, if you want the effect of sparkles, then select the best blinking liner for the eyes.

Always keep your eye pencil sharpened

Of course it is much easier to draw with a round and soft end of the slate pencil, but the blunt end of a pencil means that you are closer to the tree, and it leads to scratching and irritation. In addition to damage to the cornea and eyelid, even the smallest particles of wood can cause allergic reactions.

How to use a liner in contact lenses

If you wear contact lenses, here is the procedure for using liners. First lens, and then – eyeliner and shadow. And be sure to first remove the lens in the evening, and then remove the makeup from the eyes!

How to prepare your kid for exams

'It's not always the people who start the smartest, that end up the smartest.' If you are a parent or a teacher, this statement could change the way you deal with your children forever. It will mean that rather than looking for short term gains (marks, scores, grades) you will start preparing your children for a brighter future. And this message is most important to remember when anxiety levels are rising and exams are round the corner. It is so easy to get lost in the rat race of 'this exam is going to determine your future'. The only thing that is going to determine your child's future is his/her mindset. And you play a big role in developing that.

Carol Dweck, from Stanford University, has proposed that it's not our grades that establish future success but whether we live our life with a 'growth' mindset or 'fixed' mindset. (Mindset, Ballantine, 2006). So a person with a fixed mindset would think that intelligence is fixed and that if children do not do well in their board exams then their lives are doomed. On the other hand, a person with a growth mindset would believe that intelligence is not fixed but grows through experience and learning and that exams are not a true judge of future success. The role models of growth mindset that come to my mind are Albert Einstein, Charles Darwin, Leo Tolstoy, Mahatma Gandhi and many more. All these men may not have had a brilliant academic start but nobody can doubt that they changed the world.

Keep the faith
How do you follow the path of the growth mindset? Here are some good clues:

  • Believe that no quality, trait, ability, intelligence or skill in us is fixed. All that is required is persistence, hard work and tenacity. Dweck's research has clearly indicated that children who are praised for their persistence (process feedback) are better primed for success than children who are praised just for their smartness (fixed feedback).
  • Reframe difficulties, mistakes, low scores, as part of the journey rather than see them as signs of failure. It does not mean that you are lowering the standard for your children, instead it means that you are coaching them to keep growing and not be scared of trying different options to optimise their potential for the rest of their lives
  • Motivate them to be committed to the process of learning and develop their mind and life at every step. Praise persistence and staying power, celebrate learning and curiosity, open their minds to seeing life as a way of experimenting and exploring, free them to take healthy risks and overcome challenges.
  • As a parent help children turn around their failures. Motivate them to be committed to learning rather than just getting scores. And for that you need to believe in it yourself. Remember, each child is wired and inspired differently. Some might do well in school, whereas there are many others who will only blossom much later when they are in college or when they start working.
  • The growth mindset is based on the belief that your skills, strengths and abilities can only be polished through effort and perseverance. The passion for stretching yourself and sticking to it, even (especially) when it's not going well, is the hallmark of the growth mindset. As Albert Einstein remarked, "It's not just that I am smart, it's just that I stay with problems longer."

20 Top Flirting Countries

A survey commissioned by Badoo.com with the intention to look into the world’s online flirting and compare the attitude of women in different societies came up with the conclusion that Spanish women take the cake when it comes to hooking men online.

The survey resulted in drawing the “World Flirtation League” with Spain firmly holding the top line of those picking up men surfing the web.
During a flirting season of three months the average Spanish woman hunter will initiate contacts with four men, leaving far behind British women whose prey comes to 2.3 contacts. The US women make an even poorer show with their 1.9 pickups. Consequently the UK occupies the 14th place (losing to as many as six of its European neighbors besides Spain) and the US drops to the 19th.
Other leaders competing with Spain for charming men on the web are Poland (2nd), the Dominican Republic (3rd), Italy (4th) and Argentina (5th). For those wishing to know the result for their country here is the remainder of the list:
  • Brazil – 6
  • Chile – 7
  • Portugal – 8
  • Canada – 9
  • Venezuela – 10
  • the Netherlands – 11
  • Germany – 12
  • Colombia – 13

Nail Problems and Health

It is very useful to do a manicure by yourself! Indeed, it is in this case you can see all the changes on your nails. A certain nail has become too yellow while the other has a strange spot … This is no accident!

Of course, health diagnosis is best done in specialized centers with the help of professionals. The following little signs will help draw attention to the problem.

Pale nails

With age, nails become paler, and it’s a fact that young people’s nails are much brighter than that of old people. But if you suddenly noticed that your nails have turned white within just a few weeks, then it could indicate problems such as anemia, heart disease or liver disease.

Yellow nails

Here, everything could be harmless, nails become yellowish due to frequent use of red lacquer. Otherwise, it may indicate the presence of fungal infections. But do not panic! Most fungi can be treated quite successfully.

Bluish tinge

Typically, such color indicates a problem with body intake of oxygen. Most often, this is caused by lung disease or diabetes. Truly, this can also be because your hands are cold. But constantly cold hands are also a symptom of many diseases, including diabetes. Therefore, watch out the temperature of your hands.

Small pits on the nails

More often, this is simply the result of minor injuries of the nail, but if such pits become too much, it could be a sign of psoriasis or arthritis.

Cracked and crumbling nails

If the nails peel, break or crack, this can be a very clear indication of thyroid disease. Test for such diseases is done quickly and painlessly, so do not worry, just check it out. And thank your nails they timely notified you.

Thick red cuticle

If the cuticle is red and swollen, it could mean some disorder of the connective tissue. But do not worry ahead of time because such cuticles may be the result of very rough removal of polish from the nail, which led to irritation. Just change your nail polish remover.

Blue-black or reddish-black lines under fingernails

This is a very serious symptom of such diseases as skin cancer or melanoma. You need to urgently see a doctor- find everything about melanoma.

Get real-time traffic updates on your mobile phone with Waze application

Traffic jam is considered to be the most significant problem today. Waze is an user-driven application for mobile phones that provides real-time traffic updates on phone. By using this GPS navigation solution you can avoid traffic jams.

With traffic situation getting worse by the day, most of us would like to check the traffic situation before heading on the road. SatGuide Waze is a free GPS navigation solution for your smartphone, which allows you full turn-by-turn navigation, and which also helps you share the current status on your road with other users of waze ('wazers') thereby giving them unique information that is literally impossible to source otherwise in the current Indian market.

Waze’s vision is to work in cooperation with drivers worldwide to create the world's first live driving map, providing users with the real-time road intelligence they need for better everyday driving. Waze is a social mobile application that enables drivers to build and use real-time road intelligence. The service includes constantly-updated road maps, alerts on traffic and accidents, and data providing users with the fastest route to get to wherever they need to go.

Map and traffic updates are automatically collected and generated as users drive with waze activated, but drivers can also actively report and update other users with what's happening on the road including accident alerts, police traps, weather hazards and more. And the best part? Because the map and all of its content is driver-generated, waze is completely free for users.

Once you have installed this application then it will record your route and send it to Waze which will update the live traffic information map. If you stuck into a traffic problem then Waze will help others by guiding them not to follow that path.  For example if you see some construction work on the road which can cause traffic jam then you can send the report to the Waze so that other will get the updated information. You can also take a picture of the road and can upload it on the live map which will be very beneficial for other drivers.

Top 4 Most Worn Colors by Men Across the World

One of the things men are most afraid of is color. Our ability to mismatch even an outfit with two colors on it make us stay away from color at all costs.
Color isn’t difficult once you get the hang of it. It can make you stand out in a positive way – FAST. Can you overdo-it? Sure. But that doesn’t mean you should shy away from it.
The secret is to start small.  Once you know what those colors are, you can match them without risking to make mistakes that are too big.

1 Blue

You probably guessed it: blue is THE most worn color for men. In fact, even women wear it a lot of times. Blue has a calming effect, yet it’s considered a cold color.

Chances are you have plenty of blue clothes already in your closet. Most jeans are blue and, if you didn’t know, blue-jeans can make amazing outfits if you know how to match them.

Blue goes very well with a lot of colors: black, white, gray, purple, yellow, green. If you have a pair of blue jeans, you can try a t-shirt of any of the colors mentioned above.

The thing about blue is this: if you want to make a cool-looking outfit, you have two options:
You can get some stylish items of clothing, such as a sports jacket or use the power of accessories.
You can try an outfit in different shades of blue and purple. You don’t really need fancy vests, bow-ties, slim ties or accessories for this and STILL look good. Here’s what I mean:
- a pair of jeans
- a purple polo shirt
- a light blue canvas belt
- a dark blue pair of sneakers

Dressing in the same color family from top to bottom is great. and with blue, you’re still on the safe side.
2 Black
Black is classic and we know we can’t go wrong with it. Even a full black outfit can look good on any man. The beauty of black is that it looks good on you no matter what your skin complexion is (unlike other colors).

3 Purple

Purple is being chosen a lot by young people lately. The main reason is that it’s different from blue and, as we know, everyone wears blue. Purple Can go very well with blue, black and white. It can go well with green but you need to pick the shades right.

4 Green
Green is the alternative to purple. There are men who like green and men who like purple (leaving black and blue out). Green can go well with black and white while matching it with other colors can be a little difficult. It all depends on the actual shade of green (dark green, light green olive green).

Here’s my advice: go for green and purple, because you probably already have lots of black and blue clothes in your closet already. This way you can start experimenting with color matching without risking too much.

High Heels Are Injuring Millions While Women Suffer in Silence

The number of British women who had to get medical treatment and/or go to hospital because of injuries caused by wearing high-heel shoes goes well over three million, as researchers have found out.

The nationwide survey involving 3,000 women aged from 18 to 65 also revealed a large range of medical problems resulting from killer shoes and showing just what lengths women can go to in order to look trendy.
For ten per cent of women high heels meant a twisted ankle or a sprained tendon at best, the least fortunate suffering from broken ankles and cracked knee-caps.
A third of the sufferers tripped and took a header, causing damage to the face and teeth, some breaking their wrists in the fall.
It turns out that two thirds of British belles have sustained an injury when wearing fashionable but uncomfortable shoes… And a whopping 89 per cent (almost every girl in the country!) said that they had worn shoes that spoiled the evening. 80 per cent ended up taking them off because they could no longer stand the pain.
Notwithstanding, six out of every ten British ladies confessed that they wouldn’t give up and go on wearing uncomfortable shoes, for being fashionable means a lot while wounds get healed and discomfort gets forgotten.
The Hotter Shoes comment to the poll says “it’s incredible to imagine the pain and discomfort women endure” – and this is no overstatement, yet 80 per cent of women go and get bargain shoes even if they are not their fit or buy a pair that is too small on purpose.
It seems to be a fixed habit with women not to give a thought to possible health problems when they come across a pair of high heels that they are sure will look good on them.

Get fit and fabulous with RunnerGirlsIndia

RunnerGirlsIndia (RGI) which was started in August 2007 is a safe and non-threatening environment for women to run together. The GORs (girls-only-runs) organized by RGI are fun, social, non-competitive and open to women who love to run.

Get fit and fabulous with RunnerGirlsIndia
Various running groups have been sprouting up in the city but RunnerGirlsIndia (RGI) is dedicated to empowering women toward a healthy lifestyle, promoting personal fitness, increasing physical activity, emotional health and most importantly providing means of communication between members. RGI was founded in August 2007 by Sabine Tietge, Naina Lal and others. The group organizes fortnightly GORs (Girls-Only-Runs) in Cubbon Park, where women runners of all levels, ages and sizes run together.

“The club was started with the aim of providing a safe and friendly environment to encourage women to start running. Initially we were a part of RunnersforLife and we realized that most women were uncomfortable with the fact that they had to run with men. Also most of them were apprehensive about how fit they were for running. So that’s how we got started with RunnerGirlsIndia. It is an exclusive running club for women, where we discuss various health-related issues, go for runs and even catch up for coffee over the weekends,” Says Naina Lal.

Members of RunnerGirlsIndia at Cubbon Park
Today RGI has about 200 women who regularly take part in the monthly runs and marathons. Naina says, “Being part of a group like this also ensures lots of bonhomie. We are constantly exchanging tips on what to do for that troublesome knee or where to get a good pair of running shoes or nice inners. We even have an online forum on our website, where women get to discuss about various issues related to running. Though RunnerGirlsIndia was primarily started in Bangalore there are groups in Hyderabad - 14 members, Mumbai - 7 members and Chennai - 7 members,"

Why running is good for you?
1) Running is the fastest way to lose weight. Run for 30 minutes and burn 500 calories, as opposed to 333 calories for swimming and 250 for walking.
2) It reduces chances of a heart attack. The heart rate increases by 70-80 per cent for runners and 30-40 per cent for walkers.
3) Good cholesterol goes up, and bad cholesterol goes down if you run regularly.
4) The body secretes endorphin, a form of opiate, while you are running, which helps reduce stress and fatigue.
5) Running is good for the mind. It helps you focus.
6) It doesn’t call for equipment. All that you need are running shoes.

Beyonce’s Heat Perfume Ad Banned from Daytime TV

Beyonce Knowles is among the category of girls who love to create things “hotter”. The singer’s perfume commercial (it came out last year) became so seductive that it was even banned from being broadcasted in the day.

The video begins with an image of Beyonce Knowles lying naked. The video was deemed “too sexually provocative” to be seen by children. Therefore, the commercial can be seen only after half past seven in the evening on the British TV.
However, manufacturers of the perfume claimed the commercial was in tune with her ‘sexy chic’ imagery and not in any way indecent. Moreover, they argued that the imagery was less sexual than what is routinely seen in music videos, particularly those featuring U.S. rappers and bikini-clad girls.
Nevertheless, the manufacturers argue the video is aimed at adult audience of music programs. However, complaints have come from the parents whose children saw the ad while watching family programmes.
Anyway, this story is unlikely to affect sales of her debut fragrance Beyonce. On the contrary, it will enhance her earning potential.
And do you think the advertising is “too sexually provocative”?

Why does your feet frequently swell?

Your feet and ankles swell when fluid in the blood escapes from capillaries and accumulates in tissues, a condition known as peripheral oedema. Causes range from the benign to the serious and include being overweight, long periods of standing, lengthy car or airplane rides, warm weather and menstrual periods.

Most remedies work by improving circulation and returning fluid to blood vessels. Get regular exercise (contracting leg muscles helps the veins pump blood back to the heart) and lose weight if you need to. When sitting or standing in one position for a long time, stretch your legs and move around every couple of hours.

Compression hosiery, which you can buy at large drugstores, also promote good circulation. And consider cutting your salt intake to a teaspoon or less daily, which helps reduce water retention.

If none of these remedies seems to help, a medical issue involving the heart or kidneys, or side effects of prescription medications may be to blame. Work with your doctor to rule out these more serious causes.

Daydreaming Makes a Person Unhappy

A person spends roughly half of his working time dreaming about the future, and thinking over past events. However, psychologists from Harvard University believe such a pastime not only interferes with work but also makes people unhappy in spite of universal ideas.

It turns out that a person is most happy when he lives today, and not when thinking about a possible position in the world. The experts through their study showed that people are daydreaming 46.9% of the time. And at this time we feel the worst, experiencing minimal joy.

Often, people involuntarily begin to dream when listening to music, playing, resting, working or sitting at a computer. But reading, watching TV and doing homework have little effect on the brain activity. The highest peak of happiness comes at a time of active communication with friends. This same theory explains why so many people prefer extreme sports, register in various clubs and spend evenings in bars talking to friends.

For the study, researchers developed an application specifically for iPhone, which randomly dispatched three simple questions to 2,250 volunteers from all over the world: How are you feeling right now?” “What are you doing right now?” and “Are you currently thinking about something other than what you’re currently doing?”. The survey showed: the participants diverted at least 30% of the time on any activity other than engaging in sexual activity. Just as a person felt less happy when he was distracted most of all.

The amount of junk you have gives your bum the shape it has

It's funny how researchers and clothes manufacturers have found ways to equate our body parts with fruits and vegetables. It's turn of the bum now!

Women's bums apparently resemble potatoes, pears, peaches and a new shape called 'tomato'. After what appears to be a very close look at the above mentioned body part, researchers found that about 45 percent of women are tomatoes, 30 percent are potatoes, 15 percent are pears and the rest peaches. If Christina Hendricks, J. Lo, Shakira, and Beyonce are tomato-bum owners, Monica Bellucci seems to be a mature pear and Eva Longoria, a peach.

The research has been paid for by the creators of Wonderbum, who are creating dresses to suit women according to their bum type. David Holmes of Manchester Metropolitan University, who conducted the 'tomato research' says the tomato bum is 'plumper, rounder and squishier to the touch.' But nutritionists say you don't need to be proud of a tomato or potato butt.

It might look sexy but it actually reflects the junk food you have eaten. All the fat finds a nice, cosy home in the butt. So instead of trying to identify your fruit or veggie type, just cut down on junk.

Pamela Andersons Indian avatar in Big Boss 4 house

Pamela Anderson did live up to the expectations of the audiences and even her Indian avatar didn’t affect her popularity as the Hollywood sex icon by an inch. Her revealing backless blouse with spaghetti straps and a deep neckline said it all. One cannot be very sure if this was intentional on the part of the channel or if Ashley Rebello simply underestimated Pamela’s popularity (for what she is known best).
Her sexy white chiffon saree definitely succeeded to spread her magic once again as we caught a glimpse of Ashmit and Hrishant hugging each other in jubilation. However, Ashley has confirmed that he didn’t have the exact measurements of Pamela when he was designing her outfit. He still seems to have done a good job to maintain Pamela hot quotient.
While Veena Malik has already given the Indian audience quite a heavy dose of hot and sleazy shots, the big bang is yet to come and hopefully Pamela wouldn’t disappoint her fans.

7 Ways to Apply Eyeshadow

It is very hard to do the same routine procedure – to apply makeup every morning. Women always get tempted to do something different, something unusual.

Use eyeshadow as eyeliner

Apply your usual eyeliner. Take the thin eyeshadow brush or the eyebrows brush. Wet the brush and pick up the eyeshadow. Apply eyeshadow right over the eyeliner line and in the corner of your eyes. Now you have a new luxurious image! If you are brave enough then try this method with light eyeshadow colors. Bright fuchsia or lime colors create really cool looks, especially for exciting and fun parties!

Brighten your eyelid

Pick up any color in metallic shade and apply to the inner corner of eyes, close to the nose, and just below the eyebrow line. Eyelid itself can be coated with any color. You can even leave it natural, without the color!

Color the entire eyelid with eyeshadow

Try applying the eyeshadow in a different way. Apply color not strickly to the moving part of the eyelid. Pick any color and use it to cover the entire surface of the eyelid, up to the eyebrow line. Apply with constant saturation. You will get this year’s hot fall image!

Three eyeshadow colors

It is easy to diversify your make-up by using three eyeshadow colors at once. You can buy a three-color palette or use your own imagination to mix colors. Apply the lightest color to the entire eyelid (from the eyelashes line to the eyebrow line). Apply the darker color to the moving part of the eyelid, and the darkest color goes to the innermost fold.

Two eyeshadow colors

This method can be used for work make-up. Apply lighter color under the eyebrow line and inner corners of eyes, and darker color on the moving part of the eyelid.

Experiment with your application technique

You can apply your eyeshadow with a dry applicator today. Tomorrow – use the moist one, and the day after tomorrow try applying the same eyeshadow on top of your foundation.

Take a break from eye shadows

Arrange an eyeshadow-free day. Many women are surprised by how nice the skin on their eyelids looks without color. Its a new image as well!

4 Reasons to Use Powder

Powder is an important finishing step of daily makeup application. Ideally, every woman should have powder for application at home as well as a compact powder. What can powder do? Here are four reasons why we should not overlook this makeup product.

Powder improves face color and tone

You can use powder on top of foundation but also can apply it directly to bear skin if your skin is in good condition. In both cases the powder will make your skin look smoother and will hide uneven skin color.

Powder helps makeup stay on longer

Some makeup specialists even recommend use of powder before application of lipstick. Powder will keep the lipstick in place longer. A light layer of powder will also keep your blush on longer, as well as keep the lipstick or lip gloss line smudge-free. Eye shadows and eyeliner will also look fresher.

Powder absorbs oil

Powder (mineral) does not contain moisturizing components. On the contrary, it absorbs oils and moisture. Therefore, powder will prevent appearance of oily spots, which make your skin shine. Powder is surely an irreplaceable product for women and girls with oily skin.

Powder helps fix makeup at any moment and in any situation

Wearing too much blush? Foundation is too dark and unnatural? Powder will fix it! Often enough, it is hard to pick the right colors for different lighting settings when applying makeup at home. Even some redness or a minor pimple will not ruin your important meeting or your mood in general if you have powder in your purse.

Are Women with Cellulite More Intelligent?

In the news review of the journal Science, a conclusion by American researchers was published in which they stated that women’s cellulite is…a sign of high intelligence.

According to the scientists, fat cells that make up cellulite provide a wonderful supply of polyunsaturated fatty acids that ensure an active work of the brain. Fatty acids, in particular strengthen the gray matter.

In addition, the researchers stressed that it is wrong to consider cellulite as a disadvantage, since it is a sign of a good production of female hormones and developed sexuality, which in turn guarantees a healthy offspring.

Chip That Makes You Lose Weight Invented

Surgeons from St Anthony’s Hospital in Surrey UK have invented a device that speeds up metabolism and suppresses a feeling of hunger. They tested the device in 356 women and men whose weight exceeded the norm by 15-30%.

The device looks like a little plastic sleeve inserted in your tummy. It creates impulses that produce a hormone called PYY – this hormone suppresses the appetite and helps the organism to quickly digest and process food.

Consequently, one can get rid of five kilograms of excess weight within a month without resorting to gastric bypass surgery and liposuction. According to Alberic Fiensa, one of the co-authors and a consultant bariatric surgeon at the clinic, this chip can even free diabetic people from daily insulin injections because the device activates the cells of the pancreas.

How to Remove a Perfume Scent From the Body Skin

Choosing a scent is a fascinating process. Many of us like going to our favorite perfume shop, trying out some perfumes, going home and feeling some enchanting notes on our bodies. It’s a great joy when a choice is successful, and we pleasantly rush back to the counter to indulge in buying. But what would you do if you didn’t like the smell?

When you don’t’ like the smell, you want to get rid of it as quickly as possible. But it pursues you everywhere and already seems that everything smells like that haunting fragrance. Can we remove a perfume scent from our skin? In fact, there are some tips:

Wipe the area where you sprayed perfume with spirits

This is probably one of the most well-known ways to remove odors. But you can hardly call it a universal method: not all smells can be removed in this way and the skin is dried out and irritated. Nevertheless, this is the first thing you can try. Vodka can do if there are no spirits. Moisten a cotton wool tampon and just wipe the area of the skin where the perfume was applied.

Deodorant and detergent

Do not be surprised, but such a strange combination works very well. First take a non-odorous deodorant and treat the skin area affected by the perfume. Then wash the skin with a detergent solution (it’s preferable if the detergent is also non-odorous).

Soda paste

Make a dense composition of soda and warm water. They need to be taken in equal amounts. Place the composition on the skin. Wait for 10 minutes and rinse with warm water (but not hot water!).

Vinegar (light) and olive oil

This is another recipe found in every kitchen. You need to make a mixture of vinegar and olive oil, wipe the skin area, wait for 10 minutes, then rinse with warm water and then with neutral soap.

How to maintain each type of Floor

It's easy to forget that the flooring in our homes need looking after; but it is essential to make it last longer. Here are a few tips to help you.

Wooden
Hardwood floors are the epitome of elegance and last for decades if cared for properly. However, a little negligence can leave the floor looking dull, warped and scratched. Here's how you can keep it looking beautiful:
  • Always monitor the amount of sunlight that falls onto the floor. Excess sunlight can cause discoloration.
  • It is important to protect the flooring from everyday wear and tear. To minimize the scuffing and scraping, use rugs and floor protectors for the furniture and appliances that come in contact with the wood.
  • Avoid using water to clean wooden floors. Any water-based cleanser could trigger the wood to rot easily.
  • Apply wax as often as you can in areas that are constantly in use, such as the staircase, hallway, living room and kitchen.
  • Always trim the toenails of your pets, to avoid any scratches on the wood.
Marble
Marble is not only considered a symbol of prosperity but also one of inherent beauty. It adds class to any home and is also easy to clean and maintain, because you don't have to worry about it being damp and wet. Follow these easy tips to keep your marble floor new and shiny for a long time:
  • Use hydrogen peroxide to return marble to its original colour that may have been lost due to discolouration.
  • Clean the floor regularly with a cotton string mop and water to keep it free from dirt and grime. However, take care to dry up the water quickly.
  • Remove rust stains from the floor using lemon juice and salt. But do not leave the mixture on for too long.
  • Polish your floor every now and then to maintain the lustre.
Stone
Granite is one of the most beautiful and durable stones for flooring. It is easy to clean and maintain. As a result it is widely used in homes. These tried-and-tested tips will keep your floor shining:
  • To keep the floor clean, sweep and mop it with warm water everyday. However, make sure to wash it with soap once a week, followed by rinsing with warm water so that the floor remains sealed and shining.
  • If you spill something on the floor, clean it right away. However, always blot, never wipe the spill.
Tile
Ceramic tile floors can add cheer and character to your home and the best thing is that it is quite easy to maintain as compared to other floorings. Here are few, simple, yet effective measures, to keep your flooring as stunning as ever:
  • Try and keep a separate pair of footwear to be worn inside your home, so as to prevent the tiles from getting scratched.
  • To avoid that dull residue on the floor after cleaning, mop with warm water and don't forget to dry the floor soon after.
  • Keep a scraper handy to gently remove crayon marks, grease smudges, food droppings or other spills that may occur. However, you should always be careful to avoid scratching the surface.
  • To prevent dirt from accumulating, place rugs and mats in hallways and doorways. The mat will catch the dust and grime from the shoes and help in keeping the floor clean.
  • Make sure you always use a tile cleaner suitable for the type of tiles you have and the kind of sealant needed to fix those particular tiles.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October at Mazumdar Shaw Cancer Center

October is Breast Cancer awareness month and Mazumdar Shaw Cancer Center is conducting a 15 day long screening camp on its Health city campus from 25th October till 7th November in an effort to spread awareness among rural women.

No matter where you go, whenever you see a pink ribbon you automatically know what it stands for. The pink ribbon is widely found on a variety of merchandise and apparel and people automatically associate it with breast cancer without having to think about it. Today it not only shows support for the cause, but the pink breast cancer awareness ribbon stands for the sisterhood that helps women survive and conquer the disease. Mazumdar Shaw Cancer Center is conducting a 15 day long screening camp on its Health city campus from 25th October till 7th November. It is an effort to spread awareness about Breast Cancer among women in India.

The incidence in India in the major cities is 26 per lakh population but in the rural areas it is around 8 per lakh population. Prognosis and survival varies greatly depending on cancer type and the stage of the disease. Computerized models are available to predict survival with best treatment. Depending on the staging the 10-year disease-free survival varies from 98% in early stages to less than 10%.in the advanced stage. Treatment includes surgery, chemotherapy and radiation therapy including hormone therapy. In India breast cancer comprises 26% of all cancers among women, making it the most common cancer in women.

One in twenty two Indian women would get breast cancer. Some of these cancers are sensitive to hormones like estrogen which makes it possible to treat them by blocking the effects of this hormone in the target tissues. These have better prognosis and require less Aggressive treatment than hormone negative cancers. Radiation is usually given to the surgical bed to control cancer cells that were missed by the surgery, which usually extends survival rate and reduces local recurrence.

Screening for Indian women

Breast cancer screening is meant for healthy women to achieve an earlier diagnosis. Early detection will improve outcomes and reduce cost of treatment. A number of screening tests have been employed including:
1. Self breast Examination
2. Clinical Breast examination
3. Mammography
4. Genetic screening
5. Ultrasound and
6. MRI

A clinical or self examination involves feeling the breast for a lump or other abnormalities. The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force recommends mammography every two years in women between the ages of 50 and 74. In India women get cancer a decade earlier and so they recommend that a woman gets a mammogram starting from the age of 40 and then every 2 years.

In women at high risk, such as those with a strong family history of cancer, mammography screening is recommended at an earlier age and additional testing may include genetic screening and an MRI SCAN yearly from age of 25. Since young women have dense breasts a mammogram may not be that helpful and so we recommend an ultrasound of the breast every year for Indian women from the age of 40

Holistic approach:
The treatment of breast cancer requires a dedicated team involving Oncoplastic breast surgeons, medical oncologist, radiation therapist, plastic surgeons, etc. The outcome/results of such an approach are far superior compared to the single specialty or consultant approach. Prevention and early detection should be the priority and the October month is dedicated to screening as many cases as possible.

Risk factors
The important risk factors that have been identified are sex age, lack of childbearing or breastfeeding, higher hormone levels, race and economic status.
Women can reduce their risk by maintaining a healthy weight, drinking less alcohol, being physically active and breastfeeding their children. It is said that 38% of breast cancer cases are preventable through reducing alcohol intake, increasing physical activity levels and maintaining a healthy weight.

Only 5% of breast cancerous are attributed to Heredity and close to 50% were attributed to known risk factors. In more recent years, research has emphasized the impact of risk factors such as a high-fat diet, alcohol intake, obesity, environmental factors, tobacco use, and radiation. In addition to the risk factors specified above, demographic and medical risk factors include:

Past history of breast cancer: A woman who had breast cancer in one breast has an increased risk of getting cancer in her other breast.

Family history: A woman's risk of breast cancer is higher if her mother, sister, or daughter had breast cancer. The risk is higher if her family member got breast cancer before age 40.

There was a study of 72,000 women conducted by the National cancer institute found that those who had a normal body mass index at age 20 and gained weight as they aged had nearly double the risk of developing breast cancer after menopause in comparison to women maintained their weight.

Blame your Genes for your sleep cycle: Study

Wondered how some stay perky all day with just a few hours of sleep, while others remain cranky all day? The reason, scientists have found, could be due to a ‘sleepiness' gene.

Some of us wake up refreshed and ready to bounce out of bed — no matter how little sleep we've had. Others, on the other hand, just want to turn over to go back to sleep, even after getting ten hours of shut-eye. Scientists believe it's all in the genes. Scientists claim to have found a “sleepiness” gene that affects whether people rise refreshed and ready to attack the day — or would rather turn over and go back to sleep, reported a leading News Daily.

According to them, people with the “sleepiness” gene feel more tired than others, even after getting a good 10 hours of shut-eye two nights in a row; they also take lack of sleep harder than others. The scientists focused on 37 volunteers who had a genetic flaw linked to narcolepsy, a sleep disorder in which sufferers fall asleep without warning. Despite having the gene, the men and women did not suffer from narcolepsy and were classed as healthy sleepers.

For the first two nights of the study, they were allowed to sleep for up to 10 hours. For the next five, they were only allowed four hours in bed. Another 92 adults without the genetic flaw followed the same routine. Those with the flawed gene were sleepier and more fatigued no matter how much or how little sleep they had. They also woke up more during the night and spent less time in restorative deep sleep.

“This gene may be a biological signal for predicting how people will respond to sleep deprivation, which has significant health consequences and affects millions of people around the world. It may be particularly important to those who work on the night shift, travel frequently through multiple time zones or just lose sleep due to their work and family obligations. More research and replication of our findings are needed, the researchers said.

7 Reasons to Start Your Christmas Shopping Now

As usual, most of us start buying Christmas gifts at the last moment. Even shop-windows, dressed up for the November holidays do not convince us to start holiday shopping at least a little bit earlier. But what if you change your rules this year? Here are at least seven reasons for this.

No budget hit

If you split your holiday shopping across a few weeks, your wallet won’t feel the pinch. After all, if you’ll spend $30-$40 on small gifts for each week, you will agree that psychologically it is much easier than spending $300 – $500 straight away in the New Year week, and really strain the family or personal budget.

More variety of Christmas gifts

Now in stores you can have access to much more choice than in the days before the New Year rush. Remember what are usually left on the shelves on Christmas Eve.

More time to think about gifts

Yes, now you can weigh everything, plan, and not run to buy a banal box of chocolates and champagne for colleagues.

No stress

Take care of your nerves! You have to plan a holiday party, choose a New Year’s outfit, and holiday scenario. Why else would you burden yourself with unnecessary stress, which inevitably occurs because of fear of missing or forgetting something?

Saving money on gifts

Now, many things that we traditionally buy as gifts such as champagne, cards, and blankets-gloves-hats are cheap! Save not only time but also money!

Time to find the right thing

Even if you are looking for a very rare or collector’s item, you can find it. You won’t’ worry if you start searching now.

You will be able to please everyone with gifts

Each of your friends and loved ones deserve an individual approach. By starting now to think about what to give them, there is a chance to please everyone and make this New Year the most memorable for them.

Rebecca Battino Sues Apple because of Extreme Cam Girls app!

Oh and another one sues Apple! Question is, will this entity face the dust as well? And nope, this is not about a company we’re talking about here, but rather a girl, and to be more specific she’s a 19 year old model. The case of the suit? An adult rogue app on Apple manages to use her provocative photos without her permission and this girl demands a $1 million dollar fine on Apple and Samba Studios (makers of the Extreme Cam Girls App).

Rebecca Battino (name of the accuser) claims that someone have wiped all her sexy, steamy photos from her computer and distribute it on the web without her knowledge and thus using it to attract visitors, in this case against the Extreme Cam Girl Application.

If this person is really serious on filing a suit against Apple and to the developers then she should also be doing it first on the person who swiped the files on her computer and manage to publicized it on the web. As you are all may aware off, it’s so friggin’ easy to find any provocative photos on the net, just try images. google.com (even with the search filter turn to ‘on’) and you can see tons of women whereas getting it easy without any external source. For the folks from Samba, their best defense for this one is they just got it from a rogue 3rd party publisher and there was no link sourcing the original post.

So far, Apple nor the developers of Extreme Girl App has not yet disclosed their statement of any comments

Skin Care Tips How to Ditch Blackheads for Good

We know that blackheads are not something you want on your face -- ever. The word alone is not a pretty one.

black·head noun (blak-hed)

Blackheads are basically the same as whiteheads, except for blackheads have an oxidized fatty deposit. And when fatty deposits are oxidized, they turn dark. So they're called blackheads. When they're not oxidized, they're called whiteheads. Blackheads differ from other pimples because they are open, and not enclosed by a layer of skin like most spots or pimples.

Follow these steps to clear and prevent blackheads:

Step 1: Cleanse
Properly cleanse the skin, preferably with a salicylic acid-based cleanser, which will help treat and prevent blackheads, says Bratschi. This will both act as an antibacterial and anti-inflammatory.

Step 2: Tone

Use an alcohol-free product that contains Totarol (from the Totara tree which again is antimicrobial and antibacterial). This closes pores and puts back the acid mantle (basically it restores the pH of your skin).

Step 3: Spot treat problem areas

A serum containing Nyacinamide (Vitamin B3) and Papain (papaya enzyme) will be most effective at treating blackheads. The Nyacinamide helps acne-affected skin and decreases oiliness, which is a component of blackheads. Papain is an exfoliant, which will help remove dead skin cells that clog pores.

Step 4: Moisturize

Use an oil-free moisturizer, preferably including Hyaluronic acid to deeply hydrate the skin, and always use an SPF during the day, especially since you'll be exfoliating your skin often as part of this process.

Step 5: Scrub

Two times a week, use a gentle grainy scrub. Manual exfoliation is the key to preventing blackheads.

Step 6: Do a mask

Twice a week, do a Kaolin-based mask, which will draw out congestion that creates blackheads, absorb oils and close pores

If you follow the steps and still don't see results …

Don't pick! Instead make your way to your nearest esthetician. Often people use too much pressure or just push more dirt in to [pores], further inflaming them, not to mention cross contaminating other areas of the skin. It can also lead to scarring, hyperpigmentation and broken capillaries -- all of which are difficult to later fix. If you squeeze a blackhead and it turns into a giant scar, it can cost you thousands of bucks to fix it. So it's much better getting someone for 30 bucks to clean up all the blackheads and call it a day.

Blackhead removal is best treated by a professional where the skin is prepped correctly, extracted correctly and importantly, treated afterwards to both stop inflammation and prevent them [from] re-occurring. Love Dies in Marriage After 10 Years and 11 Months

True love lasts forever, researchers were saying a while back. Now, a new study comes to prove that, in married life, love tends to go stale after precisely 10 years and 11 months.

Though the study would seem to deny the existence of the so-called “7-year itch,” it also brings some bad news to those couples who believe they can see their future in statistics.

A fifth of all couples taking part in the survey complained about their love life, saying they’d reached a point where they no longer found their partner attractive or appealing enough.

“And 12 per cent could not remember the last time their partner paid them any sort of compliment,” says the Mail.

Six in ten of all married couples said they often felt the need to be reminded in one way or another why they had tied the knot in the first place, because routine had gotten the best of them.

“It takes a special someone to step back from everyday life and realize it takes a bit of effort to keep the romance alive,” a spokesperson for the dating website that commissioned the survey says for the Mail.

The same spokesperson underlines that one of the biggest problem married couples often stumble upon is a stale love life. “This is one area which falls by the wayside after several years of marriage,” the rep says.
